I love Cooking Light. I've been reading it cover to cover for more than a decade. I always learn something relating to health, like this. Sometimes I can't even get past the cover before I start drooling.
Look at this pizza!
I had to make it.
It's superb-smoky and herby and cheesy. It's called "Our All Time Favorite Herbed-Cheese Pizza," but you can make one for your kids sans herbs and with plain pepperoni. Or even one for your husband with half pepperoni. I took mine just like Cooking Light recommended and I wouldn't have changed a thing.
I'm planning to make it every Friday night for the rest of my time on earth.
Click here for the recipe or borrow a copy from a friend or the library. Or better yet, go ahead and subscribe to the magazine to procure all the pleasures of ownership. Borrowing can get you into trouble. If it's yours, you can write on it. You can slop a little sauce on it. Go ahead-even dogear it.

Great pizza! I'm sure if you brought MS Mean Librarian a pizza, she would forgive you. LOL!
I am 100% on YOUR side, Prudy - you should not be blamed at all!! I'm so sorry you had to go through that :(
On a brighter note, I just finished reading that issue of Cooking Light - great pizza!!
You're so cute! Sorry you got in trouble. Yummy looking pizza :)
What a mean librarian. Does she have a badge and tote a pistol?
This pizza looks delicious...the cheese alone is making me DROOL!
I know my librarians would forgive many things, including dogeared pages, if I took in a homemade treat!
That pizza caught my eye when I received the CL as well... may have to give it a try since you said it was so delicious!
Yikes! Cranky libriarian. But your pizza looks sooo good! I really enjoy your blog and love the music! ;)

i read your page alot and have used many many many of your recipes! you are a hard working, talented mom, a great person from what i can tell, so don't let that onery librarian get to you. poor thing must have some misery in her life to treat people so horribly. dogearing, is not a crime, it's proof that we are reading and not just checking books out for appearances. i think you should bring her something delicious to eat, along with a side of advice on how to treat others!
I worked in a library for years upon years... I don't recall ever hearing or seeing one of our ladies call a patron because of a dog-eared book! My goodness.
Make another chocolate souffle - chocolate cures all.
That looks really good! I'll definitely have to make the recipe. I'm sure the library lady would be nice if you took in the pizza and chocolate souffle!
If it makes you feel any better, I'm a librarian...and I always dogear pages in my library books! What a picky woman, to make such a fuss about it.
I picked up that issue of Cooking Light because of the pizza on the front. Can't wait to try it!
That's an old school librarian! Too bad for you! You should read Ex Libris: Confessions of a Common Reader by Anne Fadiman. There's an essay that reminds me of you and dog ears! :)
We have a librarian that so embarrassed me that I had to go out to the car and have a good cry. But she's the only one like that at our library. The rest of them are darling.
Oh, and I love that your jelly-roll pans look well-used, like mine. I can't stand the sound of steel wool to scrape of that patina around the edges.
I know the EXACT librarian you are talking about as I live in your town. We are scared of her.
Glad you beat the dog-eared rap-- I'm a librarian (though no longer in a public library) and was thrilled simply when the books were returned in re-circulatable condition--dog-ears included. Unfortunately there are some who just fit the librarian stereotype, but most of us are pretty cool... The pizza looks great, I'll have to give it a spin!
Dear Prudence, not to rain on your parade, but I think Heidi took you Cooking Light magazine home with her. Sorry. I guess you are stuck dogearing the grocery ads.
We have pizza night, every Thursday at our house, but this week we'll be changing things up a bit, I can't wait to try this recipe. It looks heavenly!
That librarian sounds like a nasty old witch!
But guess what--Miss Pickles is back!
I love this story, even though it was so very unpleasant, but it reminds me of the Trunchbull in Roald Dahl's Matilda. You know the principal who despises little children and enjoys tormenting them?? (It seemed like the half of the teachers I worked with were a little like this, too)...Anyway, the pizza looks delicious and thanks for the extra copy of Cooking Light. It's my favorite non-church magazine :).
Three Cheers for well-read-dogearers!
Pizza looks great... I agree Librarian needs to pick up a self help book on how to be nice and get a life... great story.. dogear away!!
HilArIous!!!
I just discovered your blog on the Beehive Cottage, and I LOVE it!
Yes, those pizza's would make me feel better.
Ramona
Oh man, I am so glad that the librarians at our library are extra friendly. I'd be scared to go back!
These turnovers look delicious; just perfect for fall!
I have always thought that if I were a book, I would want to be dog eared b/c it meant that someone loved me!
Unfortunately, that librarian has at least one clone at every library I've ever been to, and we're talking several states. She's usually in the children's dept.
Oooooh those type of librarians make me so frustrated! Especially when they try to make you feel like the size of Tom Thumb as they dress you down and then dole out your fine + reshevling fee with a slight smirk on their face.
ARGH.
The sight of the yummy pizza almost made me feel better after my library flashback!
:)
i can't believe it! librarians are supposed to be glad that children (greasy or not) love books!
looks like great pizza. my subscription has lapsed but i think i'll make this and subscribe again ASAP. i love cooking light and miss thumbing through the pages (and dogearing them) picking out my new recipes for the week. frankly, your blog has been enough for me in the past year!:)
mmmm pizza. Wish I wasn't out of yeast right now. Go back and ask that mean librarian if she wants dogears.
♥ Rebecca
