Fear not because I am pretty positive it was my fault. I think I scooted it too close to the edge of the stove. A tiny bit of the corner of the bag was touching the stove's edge inside. I guess I did not pay enough attention to that teeny-tiny detail! Who knew?

Bag in the middle = safe
Bag touching the side = not safe

Last year the marshmellows on my sweet potatoes caught on fire. This year it was my pie. Now here's the burning (ha ha) question-did you have a cookie sheet underneath or the big sheet of foil that we talked about??? I would feel a lot more secure knowing that it was a butter drip that caused the problem-since that is easily resolved in the future. Let me know. Glad the two fireproof pies were sure fire successes!Prudyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14163107781644008543noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1262517653358371042.post-27646112471766483582009-11-25T18:53:54.058-08:002009-11-25T18:53:54.058-08:00Aunt Prudy,
I have the BEST story for you tomorro...Aunt Prudy,

I have the BEST story for you tomorrow at Thanksgiving. While cooking my Apple Pies (the two of them), I SOMEHOW managed to catch one on fire! LOL Don't worry though. I made it to the sink on time, splashed it with some water, and saved the day! :)

I told you-I am awful in the kitchen, BUT I am having so much fun trying! Mark and I had a great laugh before heading to bed, and I will always remember my first (technically second b/c I had finished the VERY first about an hour before) attempt at baking a pie.

**I must also note, I took my two non-fire-roasted pies to Kaden's Thanksgiving Feast, and ALL the parent's raved about how good they were! I had at least three parents hunt me down, ask for the recipe, and give their thanks. All my thanks went to YOU! I gave them your blog address and sang your praise!

Thanks for being so darn fantastic! See you tomorrow.Katie and Markhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02605321441211174770noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1262517653358371042.post-41897380433875913312009-11-25T13:34:32.630-08:002009-11-25T13:34:32.630-08:00crockpot turkey breast! brilliant! i will be try...crockpot turkey breast! brilliant! i will be trying this even though our thanksgiving is already a month past.konekonoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1262517653358371042.post-86077477384212132802009-11-25T11:23:42.366-08:002009-11-25T11:23:42.366-08:00Thanks a bunch! A little trick I do for chocolate and some cream pies is to paint the bottom and sides with a thin layer of melted chocolate and that will harden and seal them, too.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
